The interior doors are not only useful, they are an integral part of the decoration. Contemporary or classic, alveolar or full, the choice is as wide as varied. The interior door serves to delimit the spaces, while insulating the rooms and preserving the heat inside. However, given the variety of existing models and according to your budget, the choice is more difficult than it seems.

A few characteristics are to be taken into account when choosing your interior doors as well as the relevant parts, the type of door, but also the opening system. Here is an overview of the different models of interior doors to find the ones that best suit you.

Different types of door opening

Before choosing the material you want for your interior doors, it is important to define the opening system that rests on two points: your needs and the layout of the room.

There are three types of door opening:

The swing door: the most traditional door, but also the most popular for its ease of installation and unbeatable price. The swing door fits all the fittings and is easy to disassemble if you have furniture to move. Depending on the material, it offers good thermal and sound resistance. However, it has the disadvantage of encroaching on the volume of the part when it is opened.

The sliding door: a system of opening that meets a growing success in the world of decoration for its virtues of arrangement, with an obvious gain of place, and its style passe-partout. In wood or glass, it is available in many modern and contemporary models. But its implementation is delicate and requires specific skills.

The pivoting door: Rare in the interior layout, it is rather original and elegant. Its opening is vertical on one or more pivots and requires sufficient and adequate space.

The folding interior door or accordion: a door that is better suited to cupboards and storage. Its ventaux fold over one another for a total opening without bulkiness on the walls and its price is very affordable.

The right structure for your interior door

The inner honeycomb door is the most popular in our interiors, its core made of reinforced cardboard and its honeycomb structure has a basic sound and thermal insulation, while its small price makes it very present in renovation.

The hollow core inner door is generally made of wood or MDF and is of considerable strength.

The solid interior door is made of the same materials as the honeycomb door: solid wood, aluminum, PVC, solid agglomerate, polystyrene and fireproof material.

To each room its type of inner door

The bathroom, bedrooms and toilets are generally equipped with solid doors to preserve privacy, but in terms of living room, dining room and kitchen, the choice is wider and you can opt for glass doors that generously let the light enter. Think of an acoustic door for a child’s room, which allows you to reduce noise nuisance compared to less efficient standard doorbells.
